Teacher Training Programs - Overview Certifications

Top Ten FAQ's As we near the beginning of another season of Yoga Teacher Training
Programs, we thought it would be good to list the top 10 questions we receive at FYB about our YTT
Programs. (Click on a question)
Do I need to pay for the whole thing at once?Absolutely not! We have many payment options available to you, including credit card payments, installment payment programs, and split programs. Occasionally, FYB also offers discounts for early-bird registration, final 30 days registration (space permitting), and / or bring-a-friend discounts; call for details. Back to TopDo I have to be an experienced yoga practitioner to sign up for the training? Not at all...many of our most successful graduates have minimal experience in yoga prior to beginning the training. We have found that the key to success does not lie in whether or not you are currently teaching. (About 40% of the students in our training program already teach, most with minimal to no previous training or certification). Also, the key to success is not found in whether you've been practicing yoga for a brief period of time, or for several years. Rather, the true key to success comes from having an open mind to new ideas and the internal desire that you have to share your passion for yoga with others! Back to TopWhat if I already have many of the required books? No problem! You can purchase the remaining books through FYB at 10% off (when you enroll in the program, you receive 10% off all FYB products, including yoga accessories, CDs, clothing, aromatherapy, and more!), or pick them up on your own (good sources are Amazon.com, or Borders books). Back to TopI'm coming from out of state. Where will I stay? Are there local restaurants? Our business staff can recommend some lodging options for you, at all price points, from hotels to hosted in-home stays (when available). We have discounted rates through many local hotels. Near our training facilities, there are many restaurant options for lunches and dinners, as well as shopping, bookstores, and coffee houses (you will have a nice break every day, midday, to take some time for yourself). Back to TopWhat makes your program different than others that are available?Of course, there are many choices available for you to receive your certification, and your Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) designation (which we at FYB believe is of great importance). And many of those programs are excellent! What makes FYB different is our philosophy--"The Person, Not the Pose"® -- a philosophy that we bring into our FYB classes, as well as into our FYB Yoga and Pilates Teacher Training Programs. At FYB, our master instructors get to know
the students in the training program, as the ratio of instructors to students is one we choose to keep low. That means more individualized attention for you, the student, and time for questions, review, and feedback. Our programs are constantly being refined based on feedback we receive from our students and instructors...your opinion counts! According to a recent Yoga Journal
report, the average age of a yoga practitioner is 47 yrs. old.
With an aging population, yoga practitioners often have issues such as high blood pressure, arthritis, stress, knee / back / shoulder injuries, etc. Many programs don't take this into
consideration. However at FYB we know that most yoga classes don't consist
entirely of fit, healthy 20-somethings ... so we provide our Teacher
Trainees with the knowledge to teach to all populations! Again, at FYB, it's
"The Person, Not the Pose"®. Upon
graduation, you will have learned how to interact with your students and
their needs, treating each one as an individual, even within a group setting. Back to TopWhat is the difference between the Multi-Level, Comprehensive, and Intensive Programs? Not much! Both programs contain the exact same content, but the content is presented in a different format in each program. Some students have substantial scheduling difficulties, so the Multi-Level Program was created to give students optimum flexibility within their teacher training program. For example, a student may complete any of the 3 to 4 different Level 1 weekends offered during the year, and if scheduling is still difficult, the student may choose to wait until the following year to complete the next level (rather than completing all of the levels within the same year). The Multi-Level Program is designed to provide an affordable, convenient option for completing a teacher training program at a pace that meets a student's challenging personal schedule. If a you can set your schedule for specific weekends of teacher training, then the Comprehensive Program may very well be a better fit for you. If your schedule allows you to take 21 consecutive days of training, then the Intensive Program is a great fit for you! Back to TopAll of the formats sound great! What if I can't decide which one to do?Because the Comprehensive Programs tend to fill up more quickly than the Multi-Levels (and are offered less frequently), we usually recommend securing a spot in the Comprehensive Program with your deposit. Then, should you choose to join a Multi-Level Program, you may transfer into it (with at least 30 days notice), and free a spot in the Comprehensive Program for someone else who may be on a wait list. Back to TopI'm a little concerned about spending 8+ hours a day doing yoga! What if I can't do it? Hey, we're with you! No one wants to do 8+ hours of ANYTHING in a day! At
FYB, we practice what we preach, which is moderation! During the training, we do a nice job with balancing active sessions with lectures or more quiet reflective meditation / relaxation sessions, and always allow plenty of time for breaks to "re-charge your batteries"! Back to TopI'm coming from out of state / out of area, and don't want to drive. Is there a train that comes near FYB? How about an airport? Can someone pick me up?Of course! Amtrak has a station in downtown Milwaukee, just about 15 minutes from FYB. Mitchell International Airport is a 25-minute drive. We would be happy to arrange transportation (on us!) from either location for you, and some local hotels will provide shuttle service to and from FYB during the training. Back to TopI'm still not quite ready to sign up ... is it possible to speak with one of your graduates, so I can ask about the process and get their opinion of the experience? We encourage interested potential students to speak with our graduates! There is no better way to get a feel for the program than by speaking with someone who has been through it! We can connect you with someone who has attended the Comprehensive,
Multi-Level, or Intensive Program, who may now be teaching at another
facility or running his / her own business, and / or who may be local or from out of town. We can even connect you with one of your peers, if you are seeking a roommate to defray some lodging costs. At
FYB, we've been teaching teachers for over
7 years, and our graduates speak for themselves! Back to Top
