(Feel Your Best) Yoga - Class Attendance Tips
1. ATTIRE. Please wear whatever is comfortable…loose or tight,
shorts, leggings, tee-shirts, or a leotard with footless tights (bare
feet are necessary during the standing portions of class, so that your
feet do not slip out from beneath you).
2. PROPS. You should use or purchase a mat specifically designed
for yoga (also known as a "Sticky Mat"). This type of
mat allows you to safely move into each standing posture without your
feet slipping. FYB (Feel Your Best) Yoga offers five types of mats, from the
Basic Mat to the thicker Tapas Ultra Mat, which offers additional
cushion (helpful for practicing on hard surfaces, or for those who
require extra padding such as those with knee or ankle problems). Travel
and extra long mats are also available. You may also choose to use
additional props, such as a strap or block, particularly if you find it
difficult to get into some postures, or would like to modify based on
your needs. FYB (Feel Your Best) Yoga also has a selection of props
available; ask your instructor for details.
3. ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE. Please arrive to each class at least 10
minutes before the start time, to check in and set up your space.
If you arrive after class has begun, please wait outside the studio, in
the waiting area, during the quiet, centering portion of class.
You may then enter when we begin movement. This ensures that there
will be no distractions, and that you get the most out of your time in
class. If you must leave class early, please allow yourself 5
minutes before leaving to slip to the waiting area to do some quiet
relaxation (in savasana, or seated relaxation pose) and conscious
breathing. By doing so, you will complete your yoga program and be
more focused and relaxed (We call this a "relaxed energy"…a
very nice feeling!).
4. EATING. Do not eat before class. A light snack
approximately 2-3 hours prior to class is fine, but refrain from large
meals if possible. If you have eaten a meal, try to wait at least
4 hours before practicing yoga, as your body's digestive process will
make it more difficult to move into each asana.
5. FRAGRANCE. Please refrain from wearing perfume to class.
Due to the nature of our deep breathing, perfume may aggravate others'
allergies.
6. WATER. Drink plenty of water after class. Yoga
detoxifies your body, and water will help you to purge the impurities.
7. Most importantly, Have Fun And Relax! This is Your class, and
Your time to do something good for your mind, body, and spirit. It
can only be what you make of it, so leave your cares and worries at the
door while you're here!
